Faculty & Staff: An Introduction to Sharepoint

Who should use SharePoint?

The college is rolling out O365 SharePoint Team sites to help departments \ teams within the college to collaborate. Information stored on the site is available internally and externally of the college’s network so users can access their information on the go. Our goal is to migrate all of our network data shares to our O365 tenant’s SharePoint Document shares allowing for longer loss prevention (on premise 30 days & O365 90 days) and document versioning.

Which browser should I use to access SharePoint?

For the best experience, please use the latest version of Microsoft Edge.

How much space do I have on my SharePoint site?

Each site is 2.5 Terabyte. Additional storage can be added as needed.

Can you collaborate with people outside of those on your “team” on SharePoint?

Sites will not be public, however, they can be shared out externally on an individual basis.

How do you get started with SharePoint?

If you believe a SharePoint site is right for your group, please contact Carey Robinson for directions and details. He will set up your site, educate your team on best practices, and be your contact for assistance when needed.
