Faculty & Staff: OneLogin Two-factor Enrollment Instructions
Faculty & Staff: OneLogin 2-Factor Enrollment Instructions
To complete enrollment, you will need to have either an Android or iOS device that can download the OneLogin Protect app or a mobile phone capable of text messaging.
Begin Setup
Open a browser window on your computer and visit my.fscj.edu. After entering your username and password, you will be presented with the option to Begin Setup. Â Choose [Begin Setup] to enroll in 2-factor authentication.
Â
Selecting a 2-factor Authentication Method
Before continuing with the setup, you will need to download the free OneLogin Protect app to your mobile device from the Apple or Play stores. This app will allow your mobile device to receive a push notification that you can easily accept with a single tap to approve your 2nd factor of authentication when needed.
We strongly recommended using the OneLogin Protect app instead of SMS, if possible. However, if you do not have a mobile device capable of downloading the application, you may instead select OneLogin SMS on the following screen. The OneLogin SMS option will send you a code that you will need to type in each time before you will be authenticated.
Â
OneLogin Protect App Option
Continue with enrollment by selecting OneLogin Protect from your computer browser, from the screen shown below.
Open the OneLogin app on your mobile device and go back to your computer browser and click Activate to continue.
Â
Next, using your mobile device, scan the QR code shown on your computer’s web browser. Then, from the OneLogin Protect app, click on the + symbol displayed on your mobile device screen.
After scanning the QR code, you will be enrolled in 2-factor authentication and will be redirected to the website you were originally trying to access.
*If you are unable to scan the QR code, click [Enter the code instead] in OneLogin Protect on your mobile device, and in your browser, click on [Can’t scan the code?] to receive a registration code that you will have to type into OneLogin Protect.
Â
The SMS/Text Messaging Option
If you do not have a mobile device that can use the OneLogin Protect application, you will have to enroll using the text messaging option (OneLogin SMS) as your 2nd factor. To do so, type in your mobile phone number, including area code, and select Continue.
A confirmation code will then be sent to your mobile device. Once received, enter the code to verify and complete your enrollment in 2-factor authentication. You will then be redirected to the website you were originally trying to access.
One Last Step!
We highly recommend you configure a backup or secondary authentication factor in case your primary device is lost or stolen.
To add a secondary method of authentication, go to OneLogin. Here, you can access your OneLogin profile and register your secondary factor/device. Once logged in after clicking the provided link, you’ll see a similar page:
Â
As you see, this user registered the OneLogin Protect app first, so it is their default method. To add SMS messaging as a backup authentication factor, you’ll first need to add your mobile device number. To do so, click ‘Profile’ to the top left and enter your mobile number including area code.
Â
Then, navigate back to Security Factors and click the ‘Add Factor’ icon above your existing factor(s), to add a secondary factor/device.
Â
Select OneLogin SMS and it will send a confirmation code to your device.
Once received, input the code you receive via text message into the [Enter your confirmation code] text box. You have now enrolled your secondary text message factor/device.
