Students: WIFI (Wireless) on Campus

The FSCJ wireless network can be reached from any device that has wireless access. To connect while on any campus, simply find the “FSCJ-Wireless” wireless network through the wireless settings on your device, enter your college credentials, accept the certificate when prompted, and you’ll be connected.

Wireless service is available on every Campus and Center to all enrolled students, faculty, and staff of Florida State College at Jacksonville. 

All users of the wireless network agree to the Acceptable Use Policy and will operate with these guidelines.

Due to multiple types of devices and different settings for WIFI, we don’t have specific instructions for each device. Below are the required configuration options to enter on a device if it must be manually entered or for troubleshooting.

Settings for WIFI:

WIFI SSID: FSCJ-Wireless 
Security: WPA/WPA2 Enterprise 
Authentication Protocol: PEAP
EAP Method: dot1x (802.1x) or PEAP
Inner Authentication: MSCHAPv2
Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPv2

CA certificate: Use system certificate

Domain: fscj.org

Identity: ‘userid’ (FSCJ userid)
Password: ‘FSCJ password’

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why Can’t I log into Wireless?

  • Incorrect Password or Timeout

    • If you enter your password incorrectly you will be notified on the login prompt. If you enter an incorrect password more than 3 times within 60 seconds of each other, your device will be put in a quarantine for 60 seconds. Any additional attempts to login from that device until the quarantine period is over will cause the lockout timer to reset.

  • Virus

    • If the device you are using is infected with a virus it may prevent you from connecting properly to the FSCJ-Wireless network.
      You must be set to use DHCP addressing on both IP and DNS settings.

  • Outdated Drivers

    • The drivers for your wireless NIC may be outdated and not be compatible with the connection method used. Contact the hardware manufacturer, Windows Update, or Apple Software Updates for the most recent drivers.

  • WIFI Profile conflict

    • The previous FSCJ-Wireless profile may need to be deleted or “Forgotten” to remove stale WIFI network settings. After repeated failure attempts to connect to FSCJ-Wireless, “Forget” the existing FSCJ-Wireless profile on the device, wait 5 minutes and then select FSCJ-Wireless SSID from the available WIFI network list. Enter the correct WIFI settings listed above.

  

How do I log out of the wireless network?

Microsoft Windows

  1. Select the wireless icon.

  2. Right click on FSCJ-Wireless and select Forget this network.

Apple MacOS

  1. Click the WIFI icon in the top Menu bar

    1. Select Network Preferences

    2. In “Preferred Networks: Select FSCJ-Wireless

    3. Click the “-“ button to remove FSCJ-Wireless profile

How do I keep my computer safe using the wireless network?

  • Best practices for keeping your computer safe while using the wireless network include, but are not limited to are:

    • Never send personal information (like credit card or social security numbers).

    • Don’t access questionable sites or download something from an unknown source.

    • Employ and maintain an anti-virus software on your computer.
