Students: Office 365 Email UpgradeOverview

On January 2nd 2014, the Office 365 experience for students was upgraded. This change brought many new features and services including: Full Application Versions of Microsoft Office, OneDrive, social integration, web apps, and more.

  1. Create a new message by clicking New Mail.

  2. Folder list. The folder list includes the folders in your mailbox. It may include other folders, such as Favorites and Archive folders. You can collapse view this pane by clicking the folder icon Navigation Options (three dots at the topbottom left) and selecting Folders. You can expand and collapse folders in this view by clicking the triangle icons next to the folder names.

  3. Search window. Type what you want to search for here, such as the name of a person you want to find messages from, or text that you want to search for to find a particular message.

  4. The message list to the left is a list of the messages in the current folder. Each entry in the list view has additional information, such as how many unread messages there are in a conversation, or if there's an attachment, flag, or category associated with any messages in the conversation. A conversation can have one or more messages. When a conversation is selected, you can delete it, add a flag, or add a category by clicking the icons. At the top of the list view are filters that you can click to quickly find messages that are unread, that include your name in the To or the Cc line, or that have been flagged. In addition to the filters, you'll see the name of the folder you're viewing and the view that you've selected.

  5. The A reading pane is where the conversation that you've selected is displayedshould appear to the right after a message is selected. You can respond to any message in the conversation by using Reply, Reply All, or Forward at the top of a message to respond to it.

  1. Create a new contact by selecting New .All the places you can find contact Contact and fill out the ‘General’ and ‘Details’ tabs with their information.

  2. Search . People: Type a person's name here to search for them in your contacts and in your organization's address book.List of all contacts in the current folder.

  3. The contact card for the selected person should then appear.

  4. Actions you can take directly from the contact card. Select the icons to send a message, start an IM session, or create a meeting request.

  1. Select if you want to view your uploaded documents, documents you are following, or documents that have been shared with you.

  2. Download the OneDrive program (included in the Office 365 installation link. The installation steps can be found here) and sync files between your computer and your OneDrive account to access them from anywhere.

  3. View the documents you have uploaded, or create your own Word, Powerpoint, or Excel document by using new document.
