WebEx: Manage Your Chrome Extension for Webex

Browser extension security protects you from running potentially harmful extensions. There may be a case where the use of the Webex Extension was not turned On in your Chrome browser. To check if you have the Webex Extension installed and turned On, you can confirm by following the following steps:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.

  2. At the top right, click the 3 dots (see image below)

  3. Click on ‘Extensions'.

  4. Click on ‘Manage Extensions’.

  5. If you see the ‘Cisco Webex Extension’ make sure the toggle switch is turned on.

  6. If you don’t see the ‘Cisco Webex Extension’ you can search for it in the search bar that is provided, or you can click on ‘Chrome Web Store’ at the left in order to search for the Cisco Webex Extension.

Install the Webex Chrome Extension

If you are choosing to use the browser plug-in over Webex Desktop App or if you are using Canvas with Webex, you may need to install and turn On the Webex Chrome Extension.  By default at first use, you are typically prompted to install and turn On the extension.  If this wasn’t the case for your computer, please use the following steps to re-install the Webex Chrome Extension.

Log into your Webex dashboard at fscj.webex.com.

On the bottom-left of the page, click on Downloads.

Scroll down the page until you get to Cisco Webex Meetings browser extension, the click on the Add to Chrome button.

You will be redirected to Google Chrome’s extensions page for Cisco Webex.  Click on the Add to Chrome button.

Checking If the Webex Extension Is Installed and Enabled

Follow these steps to verify that the Cisco Webex extension is installed and enabled in your Chrome browser:

  1. Open Chrome:

    • Launch the Google Chrome browser on your computer.

  2. Access the Extensions Menu:

    • Click the three dots icon located in the top-right corner of the browser window.

  3. Open Extensions:

    • From the dropdown menu, select Extensions to open the extensions page.

  4. Manage Extensions:

    • Click on Manage Extensions to view all installed extensions.

  5. Check Cisco Webex Extension:

    • Look for the Cisco Webex Extension in the list.

    • Ensure that the toggle switch next to it is turned on. This indicates that the extension is active.

  6. Search for Cisco Webex Extension (If Not Found):

    • If the Cisco Webex Extension is not listed, use the search bar on the extensions page to find it.

    • Alternatively, click on Chrome Web Store on the left to search for and install the Cisco Webex Extension.

Installing the Webex Chrome Extension

If you need to install the Webex Chrome extension for the first time or after removal, follow these steps:

  1. Log into Webex:

    • Go to your Webex dashboard by visiting fscj.webex.com.

    • Enter your login credentials to access the dashboard.

  2. Download the Extension:

    • In the dashboard, navigate to the bottom-left corner of the page and click on Downloads.

  3. Find Cisco Webex Meetings Browser Extension:

    • Scroll down to locate the Cisco Webex Meetings browser extension section.

    • Click on the Add to Chrome button next to it.

  4. Add the Extension to Chrome:

    • You will be redirected to the Cisco Webex extension page in the Chrome Web Store.

    • Click the Add to Chrome button on this page.

  5. Confirm Installation:

    • In the confirmation pop-up that appears, click Add extension to complete the installation.

Additional Information

  • Webex Desktop App vs. Browser Extension:

    • If you are using the Webex Desktop App, the extension is not required for basic functionality, but it can enhance the experience for browser-based meetings.
